We are all journeying to Allaah, but how do we reach Him?
In this short treatise, Ibn Rajab (رحمه الله) explains the Hadith which is recorded in Bukhāri, where the Prophet is reported to have said,
“𝘠𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴 𝘢𝘭𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘴𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘺 𝘰𝘧 𝘺𝘰𝘶.” The companions asked, ‘𝘔𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘦𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘳 𝘰𝘧 𝘈𝘭𝘭𝘢𝘢𝘩, 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘯 𝘺𝘰𝘶?’ He replied, “𝘕𝘰𝘵 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘯 𝘮𝘦, 𝘶𝘯𝘭𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝘈𝘭𝘭𝘢𝘢𝘩 𝘸𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘦𝘯𝘷𝘦𝘭𝘰𝘱 𝘮𝘦 𝘪𝘯 𝘏𝘪𝘴 𝘮𝘦𝘳𝘤𝘺. 𝘉𝘦 𝘧𝘪𝘳𝘮; 𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘢𝘥𝘧𝘢𝘴𝘵 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘣𝘢𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦𝘥; 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘫𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘯𝘦𝘺 [𝘵𝘰 𝘈𝘭𝘭𝘢𝘢𝘩] 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘣𝘦𝘨𝘪𝘯𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘥𝘢𝘺, 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘦𝘯𝘥 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘥𝘢𝘺, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘢 𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘭𝘢𝘵𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘯𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵. 𝘔𝘰𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯, 𝘮𝘰𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯! 𝘛𝘩𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘢𝘵𝘵𝘢𝘪𝘯 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘨𝘰𝘢𝘭!”
Ibn Rajab (رحمه الله) takes this hadith statement by statement, explaining each with relevant supporting evidences from the Qur’aan and Sunnah. Introducing the reader to (what he refers to as) the ‘𝘨𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵 𝘱𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘤𝘪𝘱𝘭𝘦’ and ‘𝘯𝘰𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘱𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘤𝘪𝘱𝘭𝘦’; what it means to be “𝘧𝘪𝘳𝘮, 𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘢𝘥𝘧𝘢𝘴𝘵 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘣𝘢𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦𝘥”; the meaning and types of ‘𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘈𝘭𝘭𝘢𝘢𝘩’; the meaning of 𝘮𝘰𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 in practice; the levels of faith; the 𝘮𝘰𝘴𝘵 𝘣𝘦𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘥 𝘥𝘦𝘦𝘥𝘴 to Allah and the best times and the best deeds to ‘𝘫𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘯𝘦𝘺 𝘵𝘰 𝘈𝘭𝘭𝘢𝘢𝘩”.
Ibn Rajab’s writing is comprehensive yet succinct, and his explanation is practical and easy to understand — perfect for the average Muslim seeking a practical guide to developing a spiritual routine.
